A new home is not just a physical space — it’s a sacred center for your family’s happiness, peace, and growth. In Hindu tradition, moving into a new home is considered a significant and auspicious event, and is marked by a Griha Pravesh (house entry) ceremony.
At the heart of this ceremony is the Griha Pravesh Havan, a sacred fire ritual performed to purify the home, invite divine energies, and protect the household from negative forces. It sets a spiritual foundation for the home, ensuring that positivity, abundance, and harmony flow into every corner.
Purpose of Griha Pravesh Havan
- To purify the home of any negative or stagnant energies
- To invoke blessings of deities, planets, ancestors, and nature
- To protect the household from evil eye, disease, conflict, or misfortune
- To ensure peace, prosperity, fertility, and spiritual well-being
- To express gratitude and humility to the Divine for a new beginning
Baglamukhi Havan Procedure
- 1. Purification of the House: Enter the house with Kalash and lamp led by the woman of the house or the eldest member.
- 2. Ganesh Pooja: Worship Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles and begin the ritual auspiciously.
- 3. Navagraha Pooja: Offer prayers to the nine planetary deities for balance and harmony in family life.
- 4. Agni Sthapana (Havan): Light the sacred fire in the Havan Kund and offer ghee, wood, and herbs while chanting Vedic mantras.
- 5. Kalash Sthapana and Vastu Pooja: Place a Kalash filled with water, mango leaves, and coconut at the northeast corner. Perform Vastu Shanti Pooja to honor the Vastu Purush and remove architectural or energy faults.
- 6. Purnahuti: Final offering using a coconut, camphor, and cloth, symbolizing the completion of the Havan.
- 7. Aarti and Blessings: Perform Aarti of Lord Ganesha, Lakshmi, and your Ishta Devta.
